Our BikeFit course offers an introduction to the anatomical and biomechanical sciences related to correctly positioning a rider on their bicycle. With the advancements in computer software technology, bike fitting is increasingly becoming a key part of both pre and after sales customer service. With the correct level of training, delivering a bike fit can easily become a profitable addition to any business. It has the added benefit of steering potential customers to your store by offering a personal service that the internet can’t. Getting the perfect bike fit leads to maximum enjoyment for any rider on any bike. It will improve comfort, enhance performance and prevent certain muscular and skeletal injuries.

The course is designed for bicycle dealers, sales staff and technicians looking to introduce bike fitting to their business operations. It is aimed at candidates either new to bike fitting, or a fitter new to using motion capture who want to understand the core concepts and take the first steps towards a career in bike fitting. Candidates are expected to have a reasonable prior knowledge of basic bike geometry set up – eg. how differences in stem length/rise, saddle height, crank length and stand over height etc. have on a riders position. Please note: This course is not recommended for those who already hold a basic bike fitting certificate or other equivalent IBFI qualification.
The course will show you how to correctly size a bike and enable you to compare different brands of bikes and see how a frame of the same size can actually be quite different. This will ensure that the rider purchasing the bike will be on the correct size bike from the outset. From here the course introduces the concept of 2D motion capture systems and helps equip the fitter with the skills needed to analyse detailed body angle data coupled with rider feedback.
  • Understand how to conduct a bike fit
  • Correctly size a bike to a riders needs and preferences
  • Be aware of the key landmark points of the human body

  • Know how to operate a 2D motion Capture system (Velogicfit)
  • Read and interpret the system results
  • Record data from the bike and make adjustments based upon system data
  • Understand when to refer to other practitioners  (eg physiotherapists)
  • Understand the benefits of bike fitting both to the rider and the fitter
