Technicians qualified to this level are able to build new bikes to a high standard.

This course is aimed at anyone starting out on their Cytech training journey, looking to train as a professional bicycle technician – e.g. people who are new to the cycle trade that need to achieve a basic level of expertise to allow them to work safely either in a workshop or on the shop floor.

All candidates must have completed the online Cytech Theory One course before attending the Technical One Practical course.

The course covers practical training and assessment in the following areas:

  • Anatomy and terminology of a bike and its parts
  • Health & Safety in the workshop and the relevant legislations
  • Workshop best practices and principles – correct tool use and storage
  • Conforming to British Standards for bike assembly and the sale of new bicycles
  • Customer service skills
  • Pre-delivery inspection (PDI) set-up, adjustment and frame alignment
  • M-check troubleshooting
  • Torque wrench use and settings
  • Lubricants & greases used for bike assembly
  • Basic wheel truing
  • Importance of communication and teamwork within a workshop

Technical One Practical is a 2-day course that needs to be completed at one of our dedicated training centres.

NB. There are two parts to Cytech Technical One, both need to be completed to receive the full technical one qualification.

This 2-day practical course costs £450.00 no VAT (ACT gold members receive a 10% discount).  The price includes all course materials and Cytech certification, but NOT the online theory one course – this needs to be booked and paid for separately.

NB. Accommodation, travel and food are not included in the price.

On successful completion of the course, candidates will receive the Cytech Technical One Practical certificate and have achieved “Cytech certified” status.

NB. To gain the full Cytech Technical One qualification, both the Cytech Technical One Practical and the Cytech Theory One modules need to be completed.

If the candidate is competent in bicycle maintenance a 1-day assessment only option is available at any of our training centres. It is recommended that you contact us to discuss this option before booking.
