Cytech technical e-bike is designed for bicycle dealers, sales staff and technicians who are looking to stock, sell and service all types of electric bikes.
The course has been specifically designed to help prepare candidates for the ever-increasing e-bike market sector. It provides the skills needed to confidently set up, service and repair a broad spectrum of electric bikes along with an understanding of the specific standards and legal aspects that apply to them. It quickly gets candidates up to speed with all the latest e-bike technology and equips them with the skills needed to work on today’s rapidly advancing and ever more complex workshop environment.
It delivers a complete overview and deep-dive into the different types of motor systems being used by all the leading e-bike manufacturers.
This is the most comprehensive e-bike training course available in the UK.
Candidates are expected to be competent mechanics with a good level of experience from servicing and/or selling standard non e-bikes – eg. Cytech technical one (or equivalent) and at least 1 year’s industry knowledge as a minimum.
- Basic electrical theory and terminology including understanding wiring diagrams and multimeter use
- Safe working practices when dealing with batteries and electrical units
- International standards and regulations for e-bikes and batteries
- Working to the legal standards and being able to differentiate between type approved and non-type approved e-bikes
- Soldering iron and electrical crimps use with best practice for installing electrical connectors
- Diagnostic and maintenance procedures for ‘intelligent’ and ‘non-intelligent’ systems
- Removal and installation of electrical motors and components
- Test rides on a range of e-bikes with different motors – front hub, rear hub and centre/frame mount motors – a real chance to compare and contrast
- Communicating service work completed to the customer
Technical e-bike is a 3-day course that can only be completed at our Oxford training centre. Please note: Continuing professional development (CPD), in the form of ongoing work experience gained from working on the latest e-bikes (achieved in-house and from manufacturer training courses) is reasonably expected for those completing the Cytech e-bike course.
The course costs £850.00 no VAT (ACT gold members receive a 10% discount). The price includes all course materials and Cytech certification.
NB. Accommodation, travel and food are not included in the price.
On successful completion of the course, candidates will receive the Cytech technical e-bike certificate.
